34th Stirling (Dollar) Boys' Brigade

The Boys’ Brigade was the first uniformed organisation for boys and founded in Glasgow in 1883 by William Alexander Smith. The Boys’ Brigade divides their companies into sections: -

Anchor Boys is for boys in P2 and P3 at school. The boys play lots of different types of games, learn to win and lose, are introduced to marching, crafts, stories and badgework. The main aim is having fun in a caring and sharing environment. We meet on Mondays from 6.30 - 7.30 in the Burnside Hall.

For further help or information please telephone Mrs Jessie Condie on 743219.

Junior Section is for boys in P4-P6/J1at school. The boys enjoy slightly more advanced games; have a short opening talk each week and a chance to gain more badges. Every badge gained must have covered items taken from the headings of Body, Mind, Spirit, Community & Creativity. Badgework is mainly done in section time in age groups led by a leader. The boys also do craft and enter various Battalion Competitions against other BB boys in Stirling & District Battalion. We meet on Mondays from 6.30-7.45 in the Burnside Hall.

For further help or information please telephone Mrs Jeanette Littlejohn on 781420 or Mrs Jessie Condie on 743219.

Company Section is for boys in P7/J2 - 18 years of age. Each Friday evening there is a short opening service and some drill. Boys are then divided into groups for 2 lots of classes lasting 30 minutes each. These range from PE, First Aid, Expedition Training, Cooking, and Leadership etc. 2 subjects are required to be covered for 1 badge. The badges are Leadership, Adventure, Community, Interest and Physical and are awarded at 3 different grades. The evening ends with games (quite often football!) As well as being encouraged to go on and gain the highest BB Award (The Queen’s Badge) the boys are also encouraged to gain the Duke of Edinburgh Awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold). Some work for these awards may be done in section time but other work has to be done in the community. We meet on Fridays from 7.15-9.30 in the Burnside Hall.

Dollar Baby Group

Dollar Baby Group

Our aim is simply to provide a friendly meeting place for parents, carers and babies.

We offer tea, coffee and biscuits in a relaxed environment. The parents or carers enjoy the opportunity for informal chat and the sharing of experiences, while the babies have some fun as they interact socially.

We have a wide variety of safe, educational toys to stimulate the babies. We try to ensure that each baby is encouraged and praised, thus building confidence for the future move to Toddlers, Playgroup and Nursery. We see this as a valuable stepping stone in the babies' progress.

It is at the Dollar Baby Group that lasting friendships are forged. We welcome expectant as well as new Mums (Dads, Grandparent, Older Siblings and Childminders too!).

Please come and join us on Thursday mornings from 10.30am to 11.45am (during school term time) in the Scout Hall, Chapel Place, Dollar. We charge £2 per morning which includes refreshments.

A warm welcome awaits you here!!

We look forward to meeting you and your baby soon!!
