Dollar is a town in Scotland's smallest county, Clackmannanshire. It is one of the Hillfoots Villages, nestling below the Ochil Hills to the north and the River Devon to the south. Dollar is on the A91 road, which runs from Stirling to St Andrews, around 3 miles east of Tillicoultry. In 2010 the population was estimated at 2,970.
A major attraction in Dollar is the five hundred year-old Castle Campbell, lowland seat of the Duke of Argyll, where Mary, Queen of Scots, once lived in the 16th century. Also worth a visit are the award winning Dollar Museum and the William Playfair designed Dollar Academy.
The new and improved website for Dollar was launched in November 2013 and we plan further improvements to the site in the coming months, including a mobile version, and are keen to receive feedback and ideas on how we can further improvement the site.
